FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How is reclaimed wood different from new lumber?
Reclaimed wood comes from old-growth trees, in our case originally sawn in the late 1800's. The grain is dense and fine-grained because it comes from fully matured, slow-growing trees. The wood has been air-dried for over a century, and retains the natural resins of the tree. Many builders believe air-dried lumber is superior to today's kiln-dried lumber because kiln drying weakens the cell walls and puts undue stress on the wood fibers. Reclaimed wood tends to be harder and reveals a uniquely warm-toned patina when finished.
How do I know what I am getting?
We will do our best to accurately describe the lumber or supply digital photographs prior to shipping. However, it is the responsibility of the buyer to inspect the wood prior to purchase.

What about hidden nails?
We make a conscientious effort to remove all metal from the lumber as the building is being dismantled, based upon visual inspection. However, some lumber may still contain nails or other metal upon delivery.
